King is a lovely black ex-racing greyhound
KING
KING

King had been with us a while looking for a new home, but because of one thing and another he is now back with his previous owner/trainer living in his home until we can find King a very special home of his own.
The home King needs is with an experienced greyhound owner, one where he will be an only dog who can be given lots of love and affection, one where there is a garden for him to sit and run around in, and one where there are no young children or the grandchildren rarely visit. Having said all this though, we have since discovered there was a male greyhound living in the foster home where King was staying and where many of the issues arose.  The male greyhound we have since discovered did NOT want another male in the house and this could be why King was behaving the way he was, which was out of character and none of which we experienced here.
King's puppyhood and early years had been awful and he would have died had his current owner/trainer not been told of his plight and saved his life by purchasing him.  He took King into his home where he brought him back to good health with a
lot of TLC, and to thank him King won many races for him.  In view of King's past and present circumstances I didn't have the heart to send him to another Greyhound Trust branch where he may remain the rest of his life, so I spoke to his previous owner/trainer who agreed to have him back.  He loves King dearly and doesn't want to see any harm come to him, so he will live with him in his home until we find King a special home of his own, and if that doesn't come along he will keep King forever.

Can you help us find King a home?

Alice (Catrigg Cloud) brindle Greyhound

ALICE
ALICE

Alice (Catrigg Cloud) is a pretty female brindle ex-racing greyhound who was born in June 2015. She weighs 28 kg and is house trained, spayed, inoculated and microchipped.
When Alice first arrived she was shy of people, but as time passed she's come out of her shell and will run with the other dogs to greet who ever has arrived.
You can't mistake Alice as her ears lay in a most unusual position, and even putting them right is to no avail.  Once she gets to know you she is an extremely affectionate companion. To begin with she always slept on the dog bed by my side of the bed so she could be as near to me as possible, or on the bed! She now often sleeps on the settee in the lounge and is quite happy there.
Alice walks beautifully on the lead, will sit, is alright with other breeds of dogs, Once she gets to know children she is fine with them but she needs to go to them first rather than the other way around.
Alice had a little hard skin on the sides of a couple of her pads on her front and back right feet, possibly caused by the bends while racing.  She found them quite painful when she arrived so will scream when you go anywhere near them, but over time she has begun to trust us and I now gently rub cream on all her feet to soften it.

Mac is a black Greyhound
MAC
MAC

Mac (Swift McLaren) is a black ex racing greyhound who was born on the 3rd April 2011.  He weighs 33kg., has
a nice  temperament and loves coming for cuddles. He's a really nice lad who is house trained, neutered, inoculated, microchipped and recently had a dental when 10 teeth were removed.
Mac is a really affectionate dog who gets on well with children and he ignores other breeds of dogs when he out and about.   He spent the day at Malham Show and was perfect amongst the crowds, vehicles moving around and all the hussle and bustle of a busy showground.  Mac is also perfect wandering around town, in pubs and cafes, walks lovely on a lead and travels well in a car.

Jet (Tromora Jetson) is a black Greyhound
JET
JET

Jet (Tromora Jetson) is a large handsome black greyhound who only trialed twice and never raced.  He is 2 years old, weighs 33 kg., is inoculated and microchipped. He is good with children, okay with a little whippet he knows and shows no interest with other breeds of dogs when out walking.
During his training and initial runs he kept bumping into the other dogs and at first it was thought to be clumsiness, but during a routine check with the vet found something a miss with his eyes. Tests with an eye specialist found him to have Inhereted Retinal Atrophy in one of his eyes. Jet comes with the veterinary report to help any new owner understand what he has which may lead to him having severe sight loss or eventual blindness in his right eye. With this in mind we will commence his training to help him as his sight deteriorates.

Can you help us find Penny a home?

Mason is a black greyhound
MASON
MASON

Mason (Poolie Mason) is Patch's litter brother being born in March 2015.  He weighs 31.0 kg., is house trained, neutered, inoculated and microchipped.  Mason is black and has a lovely calm laid back nature most of the time, but when he's happy to see you he comes out of his shell and will give the occasional playful puppy nip on your hands or behind!  I wouldn’t class him as being a demanding dog at all, is okay with children and from what we've seen so far is alright with other breeds of dogs including small ones.  He walks lovely on a lead and travels well in a car. Mason spent the day at Torver Country Showground, which he handled really well.  He's also been for a day out to Bowness-on-Windermere where he walked through the ducks and swans (muzzled and on a lead) without much concern.

Homed:  Friday 6th September 2019

Rockie is a black Greyhound

ROCKIE
ROCKIE

Rockie (Ballyfore Rockie) is a black male ex-racing greyhound who was born in November 2013.  He weighs 33.0 kg,.  Rockie was homed by his original owner/trainer to someone who asked if he could look after him while they were away on holiday and never returned for him.  He was then homed to a family with a small child, but through no fault of his own he was to be returned again.  Rather than going into a rescue kennel his original owner/trainer asked if he could come here so he could continue living in a home.
Now that Rockie has been neutered and put about 3 kg. on he's settled and has become a really lovely and happy lad who will make someone a lovely companion.  When he's done what he need to in the garden he will bark by the back door asking to be let in.
Rockie is also house trained, microchipped and fully inoculated.  He has a lovely nature and a tail that wags round in circles when he's happy.  He gets on well with the other greyhounds but will give a grumble at the moment if they get too near him while he's eating.  He loves his food, and looks well with that extra bit of weight.  He enjoys being cuddled, having his tummy rubbed, and walks nicely on a lead, loves children and from what we've seen so far is okay with other breeds of dogs.  He also travels well in a car.

Homed:  Thursday 5th September 2019

Lottie (Short Odds) black greyhound

LOTTIE
LOTTIE

Lottie went to her new home on the 14th May 2019 and was very happy there until the end of July.  Lottie's owners are caravan park managers and their previous greyhound settled to the life well.  However, when the school holidays began and the park filled with happy, playful children Lottie found it all too much became stressful. Even in her own secure garden she could hear them and it disturbed her so much her owners, despite loving her, thought it best she come back to us and we find her an enviroment less busy and one where she can feel more relaxed.
Lottie is a pretty black ex-racing greyhound who was born on the 24th November 2013.  She weighs 28kg, is house trained, spayed, inoculated and microchipped.  Lottie is a gentle girl with a very loving nature, is okay with other breeds of dogs, walks super on the lead and travels well in a car. However, she can be a bit unsettled with some new things, but with the right guidance she will overcome this.

Homed:  Sunday 1st September 2019

FIFI
FIFI

Fifi (Clonliegh Fifi) is Ella's litter sister.  She is a small black greyhound who was born on the 15th June 2017 and came to us because she wouldn't conform to the race rules by keeping to the track!
Fifi is housetrained, inoculated, microchipped and to be spayed in the beginning of October.
At the moment she's a bit pully on the lead, but that may be because of the excitement of the walk and we are sure the more structured walks she has the better she will become.  She has a lovely nature, is okay with children and travels well in a car.

Homed:  Friday 30th August 2019

PACE
PACE

Chloe has a nice nature and loves meeting people.  She was fine in the pub - the noise and everything didn't bother her and she loved everyone making a fuss of her.  She walks okay on the lead and travels well in a car.
